Sophomore forwardLaMiracle Simswas one of six additions to UAB's women's basketball team on Wednesday, signing with the Blazers during a ceremony in the McClellan Hall Media Room.
"I chose UAB because it is a family-oriented environment," Sims said. "The coaches, team and culture at UAB feels like a family away from home. I'm bringing everything, I'm coming with it. They are getting a dog, a Blazer dog."
Sims averaged 5.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in just under 20 minutes per contest as a freshman and shot 40 percent from the floor.
She helped Jones to a 28-3 record, a pair of championships and a Top 15 national ranking last season.
Bilderback said Sims will be an excellent addition for the Blazers.
"We are so happy and proud for LaMiracle," she said. "It's really awesome to see her hard work and dedication rewarded. She truly gives her best every day in all she does. LaMiracle will be a difference maker at UAB. She's tough and very physical and she will rebound the ball. She's athletic and can play multiple positions. UAB is a great fit both academically and athletically.
"I am thankful for all she has given and continues to give to our program. LaMiracle is a special person and just a blessing to coach. We look forward to another great year at Jones then supporting her in her career at UAB."
